Happy Family explores the story of a fiercely independent woman who must reconcile with the family who raised her, the one who gave her away, and the one she longs to have. Cheri Matzner was adopted as a baby by an unlikely couple and now, forty years later, she's struggling to come of age. With biting wit and deep emotional intelligence, Tracy Barone weaves together the stories of the beautifully damaged people who have shaped Cheri's life, asking the question: Can we ever truly know our parents beyond their roles as our parents?
