Look Homeward, Angel
Thomas Wolfe
Experience the journey of Eugene Gant, a character believed to be a depiction of the author himself, in the highly autobiographical American Bildungsroman, Look Homeward, Angel. Follow Gant from birth to the age of 19 in the fictional town of Altamont, Catawba, a fictionalization of Asheville, North Carolina. This coming-of-age novel is Thomas Wolfe's first and remains a timeless classic.

I've read everything Thomas Wolfe ever wrote; my brother and I memorized whole chapters of You Can't Go Home Again and Look Homeward, Angel. It's hard to select just one of Wolfe's books, but his story of a man who leaves his North Carolina town to seek a better life was probably the most important to me. – source
