Richard Feynman

A Life in Science

John Gribbin

A brilliant biography that vividly illuminates the immense achievements and all-encompassing humanity of a Nobel Prize-winning physicist who was an inspiring mentor, teacher, and practical joker. Follow Richard Feynman's journey from growing up in the shadow of the Great Depression to becoming a major figure in the development of the atomic bomb and making epochal investigations into quantum electrodynamics. This landmark study of how electricity and magnetism work was just the first of many remarkable discoveries he made throughout his career.

The most interesting point in the Gribbins' excellent biography of Feynman is the value of "irresponsibly" ignoring existing research and working everything out for yourself from first principles.      source
