The Underground Railroad
A Novel
Colson Whitehead
Follow Cora's journey through the Underground Railroad, a secret network of actual tracks and tunnels beneath Southern soil. As she flees from state to state, she encounters iterations of her own world at each stop. Colson Whitehead's book is a harrowing tale of one woman’s escape from the horrors of bondage while weaving in the saga of our nation from the brutal abduction of Africans to the unfulfilled promises of the present day. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award, this powerful meditation on history is not to be missed.

@DavidPoland @habesla1 Alternate idea: Read a GOOD book. Try The Witch Elm by Tana French, or The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, or Wow, No Thank You by Samantha Irby, or Hidden Valley Road by Robert Kolker. All infinitely more worth your attention. You're welcome. – source2022-06-25T01:23:25.000Z

@colsonwhitehead doesn’t need my help selling books but even so, I must say UNDERGROUND RAILROAD is a masterpiece and should be required reading for every American. It has the driving narrative of a thriller, besides. – source
