J.L. Carr
This poetic novel follows a Great War veteran and divorcee named Tom Birkin as he restores a medieval mural in a remote Yorkshire village. Living in the beautiful countryside and working to uncover the artist's depiction of the apocalypse, Birkin discovers a newfound hope for life. However, as summer ends, Birkin must say goodbye and reflect on the passage of time and the power of art.

Also, I'm rereading JL Carr's 'A Month In The Country'. What a beautiful, funny, sad book. Just an absolute treat. – fuente
