Foundation Trilogy
Isaac Asimov - 1974-01-01 (first published in 1953)
Goodreads Rating
A galactic empire crumbles after 12,000 years of rule, leading to a dark age of violence and barbarism lasting 30,000 years. Only psycho-historian Hari Seldon can predict the future and lead a group of brave individuals in preserving human knowledge and wisdom. Asimov's original trilogy remains the most powerful, imaginative, and breathtaking in the Foundation series.

I sometimes get asked: what is my favorite science fiction novel? Hands down, it would be the Foundation Trilogy by Asimov. As a child, it forced me to think of where humanity might be 50,000 years into the future. (Elon Musk also read that book as a child, I found out.)      source
