It is the best wine and food pairing book. Well-written, thoughtfully curated, and provides plenty of options for different matches. Better than any online pairing sites I’ve seen. We use it so much, I have some of her passages memorized.      source

How Politicians Choose Us and We Choose Them
Susan Delacourt - 2013-10-22
Goodreads Rating
An insightful look at how political marketing in Canada has transformed into a business, with citizens as customers, resulting in voter apathy and gutless public policy. Susan Delacourt takes readers into the world of top political marketers, explaining how parties slice and dice their platforms for different audiences and abandon the hard work of knitting together broad consensus or national vision. An eye-opening book that offers a new narrative for understanding political culture in Canada.

This is the indispensable @SusanDelacourt book, Shopping For Votes, that @MooreintheAM was discussing on @NEWSTALK1010. A must-read for anyone interested in democracy, elections, and marketing. #onpoli #cdnpoli      source
Homeland Elegies book cover
Homeland Elegies
A Novel
Ayad Akhtar - 2020-09-15
Goodreads Rating
"Homeland Elegies" is a thought-provoking exploration of hope and identity in a nation that is falling apart, blending fact and fiction to tell an epic story of belonging and dispossession in the aftermath of 9/11. This gripping book is part family drama, part social essay, and part adventure, following a father and son as they navigate a changing world. Author Ayad Akhtar has created a powerful new narrative voice that captures a country where debt and finance have taken over, a TV star is president, and immigrants live in fear. Through the lens of a gripping family story, Akhtar makes sense of this chaotic new reality, sparing no one in the process.

Just finished @ayadakhtar’s brilliant new novel, Homeland Elegies, which is a searing, soaring, souring take on modern America. Reminded me a little of Frederick Exley’s A Fan’s Notes. But even better. Go buy this book.      source

.@boozecolumnist's lively new "Godforsaken Grapes" is the most enjoyable #wine book I've read since @lawrenceosborne's 2004 "The Accidental Connoisseur." Now hunting for mauzac, blaufrankisch, areni, baga, etc. (We have enough zweigelt and baco noir in Ontario.) A must read.      source
