Move First, Think Later book cover
Move First, Think Later
Sense and Nonsense in Improving Your Chess, 3rd Edition
Willy Hendriks - 2012-08-16
Рейтинг Goodreads
Move First, Think Later is a thought-provoking book by International Master Willy Hendriks, that exposes the truth about the chess instruction establishment's claims. Hendriks argues that simply following the characteristics of a position and sticking to rules of thumb does not necessarily lead to good moves. Instead, he shows that trial and error is a highly effective way to become a better chess player. Hendriks uses recent scientific insights to explore the chess playing mind and poses intriguing questions about whether anyone can become a grandmaster, how useful trainers' advice really is, and whether it's possible to reach master level without a plan. This engaging and instructive book offers valuable training material for players of all levels.

Also, it's OK to let your mind meander; your thought process will rarely follow a linear path. Strong players do this all the time. On this subject, I really like the book "Move First, Think Later" by Hendriks.      источник
