TiHKAL: The Continuation is a fascinating book about a family of psychoactive drugs called tryptamines, written as a sequel to PiHKAL. Divided into two parts, the first part tells the story of a fictionalized autobiography of Alice and Shura, including their experiences with the DEA and commentary on psychotherapy, the prevalence of DMT in nature, the War on Drugs, and more. The second part, “The Chemistry Continues”, is a manual detailing 55 psychedelic compounds and their effects. TiHKAL is a blend of travel, botanical facts, scientific speculation, psychological and political commentary, and gives insight into the mind of the man behind the compounds and the woman who brought his work and their story into the light of the world.
